Day 1: Antananarivo - Antsirabe
Upon your arrival our team will provide you with a warm and friendly welcome. Your journey begins immediately afterwards. We drive south to Antsirabe, where you will experience the typical highland landscape (rice fields, typical villages of the Merina tribe, rocky hills and much more). In the late afternoon we arrive in Antsirabe where you will check in at the Hotel Le Royal Palace on a bed and breakfast basis. If the hotel is fully booked, we will secure you a place in a hotel of at least equal quality.
Day 2: Antsirabe - Fianarantsoa
In the morning you can enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. Later we start the day with a short walk through the thermal city and its small producer of corn horns, semi-precious stones. After the tour we drive to Ambositra, the capital of Madagascan handicrafts. There you will have the opportunity to visit various shops before we continue to Fianarantsoa on the national road N°7. Late we arrive at the Hotel La Riziere, where you will check in on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 3: Fianarantsoa - Ranohira
After breakfast at the hotel, we set off for a short city tour of Fianarantsoa, the capital of the Betsileo people. Afterwards we continue our journey south to Ranohira, where we take a very long day trip to the southern part of the city until we arrive in Ambavalao. In Ambalavao there is an interesting factory for the production of handmade paper, which is worth a visit. Afterwards we go on an execution to the reserve of the villagers of Anja, where you can easily spot the ring-tailed lemur. In the afternoon the second part of the journey takes us via Ihosy to the vast grassland plains of Horombe and on towards Ranohira. After a long but eventful day, we will accompany you to Motel de l'Isalo.
Day 4: Ranohira (Isalo National Park)
After breakfast at the hotel we drive to the village of Ranohira to pick up your local guide. Immediately afterwards we will start our hike to the famous "Piscine Naturelle" through the beautiful landscape of the Isalo National Park and endemic plants such as Aloe, Pachypodium, Kalanchoes and Tapia trees etc. We will spend about 30 minutes at the pool and then walk towards the Namaza area, which will take us about 2 hours. Upon arrival at the Namaza campsite you will have the opportunity to take a look at the ring-tailed lemur. Later, in the afternoon, we will hike to the Cascade des Nymphes, where, with a bit of luck, you will be able to observe various bird species, including the endemic Benson's rock thrush. At the end of the adventure we will accompany you back to the Motel de l'Isalo.
Day 5: Ranohira – Ambalavao - Ranomafana
In the morning, after breakfast at the hotel, we continue our journey to the north, crossing the Horombe tableland, the plains and drive on towards Ranohira. During the trip we make several stops at the South Gate, the Bishop's Hat, the Horombe Tableland, where both the Reunion Consecration Bird and the African Marsh Consecration can be seen. We then continue our journey until we reach Ranomafana, where you will be accommodated in the Hotel Karibotel on a bed and breakfast basis. If the hotel is fully booked, we will secure you a place in a hotel of at least equal quality.
Day 6: Ranomafana
After breakfast, you will spend the morning exploring the Ranomafana National Park, where you will see three species of bamboo lemurs. With a bit of luck you may also spot some of the largest chameleons on the island, such as Parson's Chameleon. Several species of birds have been sighted in this forest, including the Madagascar starling, the Marsh Warbler. In the afternoon you will visit the easily accessible Vohiparara site on a botanical trail rich in orchids, other plant and animal species such as reptiles and amphibians. Later we return to the Caribou Hotel.
Day 7: Ranomafana - Ambositra - Antsirabe
After your breakfast at the hotel we continue the journey through the typical highland landscape. Later we will stop in Ambositra, the capital of Malagasy handicrafts, and you will have the opportunity to visit the various handicraft shops and also to contemplate the locals carving wood. The tour then continues to Antsirabe, where you will be accommodated in the Hotel Le Royal Palace on a bed and breakfast basis. If the hotel is fully booked, we will secure you a place in a hotel of at least equal quality.
Day 8: Antsirabe - Antananarivo
After your breakfast at the hotel, we will leave for Antananarivo and accompany you to the airport Ivato, where you will catch your plane and we will bid you farewell.
The standard price covers a shared room with two beds. Paired travellers are accommodated in shared rooms. Solo travelers will share a room with another traveler of the same sex.
This price covers a private room for travelers. This option can be selected during the booking process.
